Analyzing PECAS Results with MapIt and Queries


PECAS Results are normally selected, viewed, and downloaded for further analysis with the MapIt program. Below is a video showing this process.

Calibration Sequence


A standard calibration sequence has been developed, with basic behavioural calibration first undertaken with a "constrained 0 iteration" setup, and then more sophisticated calibration, and finally revisiting early calibration to ensure that calibration results hold in the short-term equilibrium simulation within the AA module.

Flow Length and Option Size Calibration


Two of the first calibrations usually undertaken are the flow length calibration and the option weight calibration. If the transport cost functions are well defined, flow length calibration adjusts the dispersion parameter (sensitivity to unobserved variables, a.k.a. logit error term) so that "commodity" (including labor, etc) average interaction length matches observed values. Option weight calibration adjusts preferences for specific technology options (eg. combinations of housing types, sizes, and labour occupations) to match observed distributions, at observed prices.

SD Calibration


The procedure for calibrating the Space Development module relies on a Bayesian procedure where both targets and the Bayesian prior for the parameters are specified. The procedure is described in the video below.
